London Maid Cocktail
The London Maid cocktail is one of several drinks made with a combination of cucumber, mint and elderflower. In this case the base spirit is gin.
Sam Ross, of Milk and Honey in New York, created this drink. It is one of handful of cocktails that follow the ‘maid’ format. The ‘maid’ format you choose your spirit and mix it with lime, mint, and cucumber.
In some quarters this is also known as an East Side which is a variation on the South Side. The whole maid family is a variation on the South Side.
What is a London Maid Cocktail?
How to make a London Maid Cocktail:
The London Maid cocktail is a member of the Sour Cocktail Family. That means it will have a 2 parts spirit, 1 part sweet and 1 part sour. The sour component is lime juice which means you are going to shake it in a cocktail shaker and fine strain it.
Sour Cocktail
The Sour Cocktail family includes drinks that are tart, acidic, and sometimes sweet. This type of drink is found in many cultures around the world. Noteworthy sour cocktails include the Margarita, Sidecar, Whiskey Sour, Daiquiri, Tom Collins, Gin Fizz. The mix of one or more alcohols with mixers such as lemon juice or lime juice may be referred to as a sour cocktail even if additional sugar is not present.

London Dry Gin
London Dry Gin is a type of gin that is made in London. It is a type of gin that is made with juniper berries and other botanicals.
St Germain Elderflower Liqueur
St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur is a French liqueur made from elderflowers. The liqueur was first made in 2007 by the St. Germain company, and it has quickly become one of the most popular elderflower liqueurs on the market.
St. Germain is a versatile liqueur that can be enjoyed on its own or used in a variety of cocktails. Some of my favorite cocktails that include St. Germain are the Elderflower Margarita, the Strawberry Elderflower Martini, and the French 75.
Mint and Cucumber
There’s nothing quite like sipping on a refreshing cocktail on a hot summer day. And this summer, I’m all about cocktails with mint and cucumber. These two ingredients pair perfectly together, and they add a delicious coolness to any cocktail.
Some of my favorite cocktails with mint and cucumber include the Mint Julep, the Cucumber Martini, and the Mojito. But really, you can use these two ingredients in any cocktail you like. So be creative and have fun experimenting with different combinations.
Fresh Lime Juice
Fresh lime juice is a staple in any bar, and it’s a key ingredient in many cocktails. It’s essential for making Margaritas, Mojitos, and other cocktails that call for lime juice. But what makes fresh lime juice so special?
For starters, fresh lime juice tastes a lot better than bottled lime juice. It has a more intense flavor that really packs a punch. And it also has a fresher, brighter flavor than bottled lime juice.
Another advantage of using fresh lime juice is that it’s shelf stable. That means you can store it in your bar for up to two weeks without having to worry about it going bad. So if you’re running low on lime juice, simply make a batch
Variations on the Old Maid Cocktail
